In XCOM: The Board Game, players take on the roles of leaders within the esteemed international organization known as XCOM. Tasked with defending humanity, managing mounting panic levels, and thwarting an advancing alien invasion, this experience is enhanced by the innovative digital companion app provided alongside the game.

Throughout gameplay, the app functions as a timekeeper for tasks, demanding quick thinking while players strategically analyze the implications of their choices. However, its role extends beyond mere time tracking. Deeply integrated into the game mechanics, the app introduces variable alien invasion plans and a dynamic turn structure.

At the onset of each game session of XCOM: The Board Game, one of five distinct invasion plans is randomly selected by the app. These plans depict diverse overarching strategies that alien forces may employ, including attacks on different continents, instigation of catastrophes, and targeting of your base in an effort to counter your resistance.

Players are challenged to destroy UFOs, explore alien technology, fortify their base defenses, and uncover the invaders' master plan. Failure to do so would result in the inevitable downfall of humanity.
